Forgotten Realms (AD&D 2nd Edition)

Toril is the primary inhabited world found within Realmspace on the Prime Material plane. As an incredibly magic-rich world by Prime standards, it's full of portals and magics that enable planar travel. In terms of prime representation in the planes, Toril is probably the most common homeworld.

Its primary continents include Faerûn and Zakhara.

Personalities

The following planar personalities came from Toril:

Although he often claims to come from Toril, Factol Duke Rowan Darkwood comes from Oerth.

Jemorille the Exile claims to have united the warring kingdoms of Faerûn by giving them a common foe: the Khahan's barbarian horde.[13]

Portals

Many portals on Toril were constructed using a powerful spell called "Worldwalk" and some kind of permanency magic, which makes for permanent keyless gates. This should be impossible for mortals. It's possible on Toril only; the same magic won't work elsewhere.

The following portals are known to link to Toril:

An ancient kingdom called Netheril had plenty of portals, but with the destruction of that empire, most portals and their locations have been lost, if any are still active.

The World Serpent Inn caters to primes from Arabel on Toril, and some claim is actually in Arabel, so its entrances may be portals, or it may exist in both places simultaneously.
